So I just had a new boiler installed in my house. It is 85% efficient and the guys over in the "Boilers" forum insisted it needs to be lined with a metal liner. It is currently clay lined and in great shape.

Anyhow, I poked around a bit online about chimney liners and I was wondering if anyone has installed one themselves? The particular site I went to sold kits and it looks fairly straight forward. Given the price of their kit, I think maybe doing it myself my be a good idea.

How do you guys feel about the liner insulation?

What does the manufacturer say about the chimney/vent requirements and what that could do to the guarantee.?

it requires a metal lined flue. Not sure what it does to the garuntee. Not sure it matters since it will destroy the chimney, not the boiler.

How about your insurance coverage?

If an insurance company found about a problem you may not have any coverage (life or fire) and they cannot be required to reinsure the property.

My mother installed a wood burner with a proper chimney and it was inspected by the code inspector, but the the insurance company refused to to continue the coverage and suggested that she should look elsewhere. she called and found another carrier.

A code is just the worst way you can build and be legal, but it is not necessarily the best or most logical way something should be done.

What about my insurance? I'm not sure I understand why you want to know about that. I merely asked about people's experience with installing a chimney liner.

I need a flue liner. The condensate from my boiler will destroy my clay liner.
