I have a tired oak claw foot dining table that the top needs to be refinished. The pedestal is fine. I want to know what I can use to remove the old finish without taking out the stain. I don't want to have to sand and stain the top. Any ideas?:coffee:

If the finish is original a 50-50 mix of lacquer thinner & denatured alcohol should readily remove the finish without removing the stain.
BTW - did you mean "Tiger" Oak?

Thank you for your help. I meant it is a tired out oak table. I don't have the heart to paint it.
