my question is
i have vip22k dish satellite reciever -will it work with a old dish satelitte?
i was camping and tried this combo and i would get a good signal and the the channel and the heading of the channel would come up- but i would never recieve the progam picture.any suggestions? thanks

the 211k, 222k, 722k model receivers will work with older dishes/switches.
(may not get the HD content unless aimed at 61.5 or 129 birds)

You do need to do a check switch test!
menu 6 , 1, 1, check switch

fred, thanks for your response.
i am not concerned about the hd channels
i quess my problem is-when i set up the dish and got it zoomed in at 63 signal strength at satellite 119-but all i get is the heading of the program and the the channel #-when i check the switches there are like 38 checks
i am kinda of lost-any suggestions

did you actually let the check switch run? The sat rx will typically gather some basic channel info and program info and display it, but if you are not getting program, either the sat signal is too low, or something is not set up right. when you run a check switch, sit back and let it run. after it is done running, does it come up with an error message stating that it has come up with less satellites than initially expected?

i did run check switch -no errors- i believe you are right on the signal-going to try to go up about 15 feet
