So i just signed a lease for a new apt..I'm moving soon and i'd like to get this bed from ikea (Malm) with the night stands, but dunno weather to get it in this color or in BLACK.. Im leaning more to this color, as i feel black will make the room dark?

Any other ideas to add to the room would b helpful..I didnt choose the color of the wall, and i cant paint it, even though blue is not my fav color, i gotta work with it.

Hi najifa,

You are correct, more black furniture + the wall color will make the room dark. I think that the pictures are showing Ikea's birch, right? Looks nice
Ikea has accessories (picture frames, mirrors) with the same finishing, so spread these objects in the room to match the bed and night tables.
Light tan or off white window covers with look great!

How long do you plan on living in that space? If it will be just a year or two, that may change my answer. If it is long term, I would go for the birch color.

I Wont be living in that place for a long time..perhaps a year and a half..Do you think the black drawers would look good with that color (its oak veneer not birch veneer)?

i'll probably go for the lighter color for the bed and night stand, and prolly light bedding so the room doesnt look dark. :)

Any other ideas or suggestions to decorate the room?

It would be great if you could change the color of the paint in the room to a lighter color. Since you won't be there long I wouldn't bother with it, just start planning for your next, more permanent place. It's a nice place, good luck with your project and post some pictures when it's done.
