We are in the process of remodeling our family room which has a stone wall from top to bottom and the fireplace in the middle. We are thinking of adding bookshelves on each side of the fireplace and replacing the stone with marble,for the fireplace surround. First, we would cover the whole wall with plywood, so we can have a leveled surface to build the bookshelves and adhere the marble to. Can this be done? We think this is an easier alternative than to take down the stone facade wall. Please advise.
