I have a deep well submersible three wire pump with 20-gallon pressure tank. Very recently, when we turn on any water in the house, we here a squealing sound for a short period of time. The pressure release valve sprays a small amount of water near the holding tank as well. The pump is seven years old and the water is slightly acidic. The pressure gauge appears to be non-functional as well.

Is this just a pressure gauge problem, or is it more extensive

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I don't think the gauge has anything to do with your problem.
A new good working gauge is always a good idea. That way you know what is going on.

Start off by reading the sticky at the top of the page, that will give you a good idea on what may be going on.

Here is a link to it. (http://forum.doityourself.com/wells-sump-pumps-septic-sewage-systems/365092-pump-cycling-water-logged-other-well-info.html)

The pump may be cycling on and off, too often, witch will cause the points to sometimes stick, lots of undo wear on the pump, raise the electric bill, and cause other parts to fail before there time.

You may just have a weak relief valve, but the new gauge will be a big help in finding out what is happening.
