I want to hang a 100lb. heavybag in my basement. I already installed the mount to the wood structural beam with lag bolts, this mount came as a kit and is rated for this installation with this size bag.
Before I hang the bag directly to the mount with chain, I was wondering if there was some way to isolate sound and vibration? Would installing a heavy duty spring in the middle of the chain help? Or would the recoil of the spring make it worse? What about rubber, such as many rubber bungee cords looped and fastened together?
Any ideas?

The spring might work. I don't know about the bungee chords. Are you going to kick the bag too? Are there a lot of pictures on the walls? Does your wife have china closet?
My heavy bag is outside hanging off a tree & I have a speed bag in the garage. I've gone through 3 heavy bags over the years. The snow & the rain doesn't help. Both bags should be in the garage. If you have a garage, use it instead.
