Roofing, Gutters and Waterproofing - Flat/Low Pitch roof & gutter apron

Hello,

Back in January we had new siding installed and had the gutters removed to put on white fascia trim behind them. Since this time we have had leaks that come from behind the new fascia. The siding installer came back and caulked where the top of the gutters meet the new fascia. That did not fix the leak, since I believe that it is caused by the water getting behind the new fascia right under the roof line. The runoff comes off the front of the flat roof and then follows the rolled roof back towards the house and then gets behind the new fascia and runs behind that down past the gutters and comes out at a seam where the fascia meets the soffiting for the front porch and then drips all over the place!

I feel that a gutter Flashing or gutter apron would fix this problem but they all say that they need to be nailed under the top shingles and above the starter row.

The only other thing that I can think of would be to caulk or put roof tar where the fascia meets the roof line but I don't think that would look too appealling from the street.

Does any one make a gutter flashing or apron for a flat or low pitched roof? If not what else may work??? Help!!!

I would use the tar. It can be done where it doesn't look bad.

I know that that would be the easisest thing to do. But I am concerned on how long that will last? I want make a permenent fix, not just a band aid on it. Would I have to do it every year? every other? Thanks for the advice!

The tar should last a lot longer than a year or two. You could try to slip the flahing under the shingles & then use the tar. I don't think you can avoid the tar. One way or another you need it.
