Has been this way since I bought the house, if you enable any of the 4 burners it will spark rapidly as it should, but it takes 10-15 seconds before you hear gas come out, at which point it fires immediately... is this normal or some kind of child proofing, or evident of some sort of check valve problem within the stove?
It will continue to light easily once used, but after 2hrs or so it goes back to taking 10-15 seconds.

Hello ls3c6 and Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.
Seems there has also been a long delay getting a reply as well....:o
Very possible the appliance regulator is slow to react. May be an internal problem with the diaphragm or a slightly restricted vent. Neither of which is serviceable. Replacement is the only solution.
Another rare but possible cause is a restriction in the fuel supply lines, Which may be the flex line or solid pipe or tubing. Also possible the shut off valve, if there is one, isn't fully opened or also restricted in some way.
Any of the above may be the cause. Especially if the other gas appliances, if there are any, have no such problems.
Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be also. They will need the make, model an serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
"Be sure the electrical power and the gas supply to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs. Always check for gas leaks whenever the appliance is moved and/or a repair includes any connection of a gas part."
