Have had AT&T dsl for several years, never a problem. Starting 3 days ago, my dsl AND MY PHONE SERVICE goes out from 4:15 to 6:15 every day. AT&T repair service very unhelpful, gave me a 72-hour window for a tech to come out.
They just wouldn't listen when I told them it is necessary for him to come during the hours the problem is occurring.

I read on internet that certain things (timers, radios, etc) can cause electrical interference with the dsl, but why would it also knock out my regular phone service? Certainly that does not operate on a frequency?

I have no timers, alarms etc. I did recently have a motion sensing light fixture installed, but the power to it is turned off.

I also recently had siding installed on house, and thought maybe someone nailed thru phone line...but that would not cause problem at same time/duration every day.

Lastly, I understand that the problem may be from a neighbor's house..in which case, there seems no way for me to find the problem...I will just have to put up with it as long as I live here.

One last odd thing..I have 4 phones in the house. When service goes out, on just one of them (the fax machine), when I listen during the outage I can faintly hear my cable tv program's audio ON THE PHONE. On the other phones, I just hear static.

Any suggestions how I can troubleshoot this?

who is your cable TV provider? what I am after is; does the TV have anything to do with the phone?

does your cable tv have a box? If so , is there a phone line plugged into it? Unplug it and check to see if you can still hear the tv through your fax machine when the phone is out.
