Ok, I've finished enclosing my garage and am finishing the new wall w/ wallboard, etc. Now I am wanting to put in/build a bar in the wall separating the enclosed garage and kitchen table area. There is a door also in this wall, but our plans are to take the actual door off and just have an opening from kitchen to new addition(garage). We want to put in a bar in that wall , but with some wall sides on one side. I've been told that a cabinet is what most put in, but we did want the bar to be "bar' Height 42 in. Any ideas on what would be good for me to DIY? and nice. the bar will go and overhang in the new addition not the kitchen side. Actually we also thought that regular cabinet heigth might be alright also. Just any ideas, And Thanks.
The wall is load bearing with joist running parallel to the wall, but comes in and meets ceiling headers running perp. to the wall. But with 2x4's left in where the bar's wall will be, will support the upper.

HI jalford,
I see some problems here. Did you check with your Building Dept. if you can do this? Do you have a permit for this? a garage opening to a kitchen and a cabinet in the place of a lead bearing wall?
Please, check the conditions with the BD
