it's a delta mod# 22-560 and it just started making an awful noise over night. worked fine yesterday, sounds like death today.
it sounds like the safety lever is up but i dissasembled it so i can see where that lock catches and it is clear. is it possible that a bad bering would make the same noise? (i am familiar with the noise because i've seen somebody dissasemble thier machine and try running it without depressing the lever or removing the lock)

On occasionas, things get stuck in the drive components, and generally make lots of noise, as you know. You may have to disassemble the tool further, but it is usually not bad bearings. Once all the guards (plastic) is off, all the drive components are usually visible and you should be able to find the culprit. But as I said, more disassembly may be needed.
