S/N 4803973 Mercury 500 Thunderbolt, 50 hp, 4 cylinder. I think it is a 1977 from what I saw.

I will need a lower end or lower end case, anyone know what other years fit? Does it have to be 50HP? Does it have to be 4 cylinder?

You can try this page (http://www.marineparts.com/partspages/techhelp/TECH15.HTM) but I didn't see the serial number. Any Merc dealer should be able to pull up the serial number and answer your question.
