Hi everyone,

I've got a new basement that I am keen to start using, but it has bare brick walls at present. These are showing signs of damp through from the soil agains the walls (there is a damp course above ground level).

My current thoughts are to hang duraliner (green fibreboard) against the wall and then use an acrylic render over that .

I am after some advice about:

1) how should I secure the board to the brick work (I presume wood is a bad idea due to the moisture)

2) should I fix some moisture barrier plastic between the brick and the board (and if so, what do you use to seal up the joins in the plastic)

In the long run I'm goingn to dig in a drain against the wall to try to get rid of the underlying problem, but until then I would like to be able to get started on outfiting the room.

Thanks,

Andrew
