Hi there- I'm having a house built with a 3 car garage. their is a single bay and a 2 car bay. The 2 car bay has a single door. My question here is that they have provided 2 outlet boxes in the ceiling of the 2 car bay for a future GDO that are offset from center. I was under the impression that you would use a single (maybe 3/4 HP) GDO whose outlet box needed to be centered with the door. Am I mistaken? Is there such a thing as 2 GDO's for a dual bay door? If so, where can I find it? The door measures 16 x 8 and weighs between 250-300 pounds (according to the builder).
As always, any help is appreciated!
Thanks.

install it near on center, it does not have to be perfect and 11 foot back from opening for an 8 foot high door, 250-300 pounds is pretty light for a 16 x8 so any 1/2 Hp opener will be fine

Thanks for the info! It's what I thought but wanted to confirm with someone who really knows.
Thanks for the distance back as well. I have to verify that the outlet boxes are at the right distance back for the 8' door.

You only need one opener per door and a 1/2 horse is plenty. The opener will not be lifting the entire weight of the door as it is balanced by the door springs.
