hi,

Being in Michigan, my HVAC installer doesn't have alot of experience with Heat Pumps. I will be asking him to install a York YZB Heat Pump replacing an existing AC condensor.

Vs a regular AC compressor installation, I know that the thermostat , the wiring being the furnace , thermostat & HP , the lineset, & indoor coil will be different. Anything else that is different ?

Is the R410 added the same way ? lineset installed the same way ?

I'd like to be knowlegeable when he comes out. thanks Mark

Not quite sure what your trying to get at, if your HVAC contractor is not familiar with heat pumps get another contractor. Trust me you'll be happier in the long run.

You really want someone that is experience with heat pump installation and configuration. As far as install is concerned it is very similar to normal A/C but the control wiring and thermostat setup can be a bear.

When I resurrected my aging York I got lucky and found a guy who worked on my specific model. Despite his knowledge he still had trouble wiring it to run my propane furnace as auxiliary/em heat. Aside from the unit locking out a to high a temp, it was not bringing on my auxiliary/em heat during defrost. It took some research on my part and contacting various York distributors to get to the bottom of things to finally setup and configure the system properly.

Is the installer using your existing heat source as auxiliary/em heat or will that be part of the heat pump install?
