Indoor Pest Control - help - identify bug

Hi

I was needing some help trying to identify a little black bug in my house.

This big is small black and has little wings - they are mostly showing up dead by the base boards in one of my rooms - I will sweap the room and by the next day it is filled with the little dead bugs - I am not sure if they are termites - only a few are one the wall or the window- not sure what to use - please help?

It sounds like the time of year for a swarm. Every year, a colony will "swarm" and send our thousands of winged critters to form their own nest. Not a real pro here, but if the bodies are segmented like ants, then they may not be termites. Termites tend to have less of a pinch at the junction of the segments. However, since they are inside your home, odds are good they are termites. Since you would want to eliminate whatever it is, collect some samples and contact an exterminator for a look-see.

I also am not an expert but the wide variety of possibilities make identification difficult.

If you are able to set a digital camera to macro and take some clear in-focus pictures it might help.
You can upload them to a free site like PhotoBucket and provide a link.

Thanks for replying so quickly - I looked at the link that you mentioned and I think that it might be the ants with wings (?)

At least that is what it looks like the most - I am not able to take any pictures at this time because I misplaced the cord that lets me connect the camera to the computer.

What do you recommend - I have tried raid for ants - maye that is why they are all showing up dead ?

If you are seeing swarming termites, you need to contact an exterminator NOW! Spraying the visible ones with insecticide isn't going to solve the problem.
