I'm making some drawers for a cabinet. They have solid walnut faces and plywood sides. These are small drawers - just 6x6" faces. I would really like to dovetail (half-blind) the drawer sides to the faces, but obviously I'm worried about expansion and contraction of the walnut.
I'm thinking that since the walnut faces are so small, they won't have enough expansion pressure to do damage to the plywood on either end.
Is this a crazy idea? Obviously there are other ways to join the faces to the sides that won't run me into this problem, but I'd really like to do these dovetails.

Welcome to the forums! Likewise, I don't believe the small drawer fronts will affect the plywood. In fact it may be to your benefit to use plywood against such a hard wood, since the plys in the wood will tend to compress and expand naturally. Go for the dovetails. Nothing better than quality work on drawers.
