I accidentally brushed my hot iron against a plastic shopping bag - like the thin kind you'd get from the grocery store - and now there is a little patch of melted plastic on the otherwise pristine bottom of my iron. Drag!! I have a Rowenta iron that has a non stick soleplate surface (which I babysit so it won't get scratched!!) So I am wondering how to get that plastic off without scratching the soleplate. Any ideas? What method? Clean while hot or clean while cold? Will vinegar and/or salt do it or will that scratch the soleplate? Anybody think Goo Gone might work? Any other commercial product that someone could recommend? Help please!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I use Rowenta Soleplate Cleaning Kit. Works for everything. You can get it anywhere that sells Rowenta irons (can use it on any iron). Kohls and Joann Fabrics sell it, if you have one near you. Probably Sew and Vac places sell it, too.

Thanks! Didn't even know there was such a thing. I'm off to JoAnn's!
