Hi,
My husband and I just moved into a house that has been in my family for decades now, but has been sitting empty for the last 3-4 years - it's about 40-50 years old.
I am trying to remove the original laminate flooring that was installed over concrete about 35 yrs ago. It's COMPLETELY glued down! Not just the edges.... so it's not peeling up as easily as everything I read said it would. I'm using a knife with warm water and soap, and only pulling up about 3-4 in pieces at a time... this is not working! I have no desire to keep the flooring - so ruining doesn't matter! (It's in a million pieces already after I've 'dug' into about 20sq ft corner anyway =)
I've tried a hairdryer to melt or loosen the glue - doesn't work. The hot water is making things go faster - but still taking forever!
Any suggestions here???
Thank you!

sounds like a nightmare. you might whant to try something heaver than a knife to remove glued down wood. we use large rip up machines and stand up heavy duty scrapers on commercial jobs . home depot sells 5' tall scrapers , if all goes well you will still be left with hard wood adhesive on the floor , you may need to batch floor depending on what you put back down. mabe you might whant to go over the old wood with new floor
