Hey everyone.

I need to extend some exisitng a/c insulated duct work a few feet.

Existing duct is round, rigid (not metal) and 6 inches TOTAL diameter. The new round ductwork at the hardware store is felxible and can bend 90 deg or more if needed, and comes in 4", 6", 8". 10" etc. diameters.

How can I tie in the rigid round ductwork to the flexible stuff? Also, how would I know what the inner diameter (or interior tubing diameter) actually is on the existing before I cut into to it and need to repair it right away?

I have a picture but for petes sake I cant add it in here

Thanks

Round rigid duct that is not metal? Are you sure it isn't metal? What material do you think it might be?

Pete has nothing to do with the posting of pictures but you can upload your pictures to a photo hosting site such as photobucket.com or villagephotos.com and then post the URL of the picture here.

Its not metal, at least from what I can see. It is rigid in the sense that I think it will kink if you try and bend it. Its TOTAL diameter is 6 inches and looks pretty close to this:
