If you paint a porch and it needs redone,can you stain it the same color or does it have to be paint agai?

Use whatever you used the first time around.
There is no stain that is going to match a paint and look the same.
And, there is no paint that will match a stain and look the same.
They are two different animals -- just like tigers and house cats (both feline) are two different animals.

Once you paint, you have to stick with paint unless all the paint is removed. You can switch to a solid stain if 90% of the paint is removed.
