Craftsman 917.258570. The blades on this 42 inch lawn tractor refuse to stay tight and won't tighten up real snug in the first place. The big washer lock washer and bolt that hold the blade, is the big washer supposed to be dished to press more firmly on the blade? I am using loc-tite on the bolts, but I think the big washer might be NG. Advice??
Thanks Much.

I think the big washer is what is called a bell washer and is actually a type of lockwasher, the object being it will keep pressure on the bolt to keep it from turning, if it has flattened then it could be the problem. Have a good one. Geo

Make sure the star on the bottom of the shaft is not worn/rounded off, If so it will let the blade move which could loosen the screw.

I agree... i think your star locking device is gone, from not putting the blades on properly.
