I had a small wooden step that was used for an exit outside my back door. It had rotten away, so I had to remove it. Part of the wood used for the step was from the floor joist extended from inside the house, now I have a hole under the door.

I was just going to put a piece of aluminum siding under were the hole now exists. Anything other than aluminum siding I need to use, or can I just put the siding in place?
