My relatively new home in Northern Arizona has central air with the AC and heat blowing through the same vents. The ceiling mounted vents are ~18" out from the wall and are only adjustable to blow straight down or toward the wall or window in front of which they are mounted.
Is this correct, or should they be turned around so the warm or cold air is actually covering the whole room. Is the theory that the air should heat or cool the air radiating from the window before it gets to the room? What is the best position for the vents to be mounted and directed.
