Hello All
I am in the planning stages of finishing my basement and I was wondering what the requirements for combustion air for my furnace an water heater are. The furnace and water heater will be in the same partitioned off room.
My house is a 3 year old colonial 2 story
1000sf basement space 8-900 will be finished
95% effieciency gas furnace
8.5 gpm tankless water heater
both are direct vented
The room size I am making for them is roughly 13 x 12
Do they still need another source of combustion air, and is there a minimum for how close the appliances can be to the partitioned.

If both units are direct vent (getting it's own air from the outdoors), then you would not need one in that room.
However, you may need some make up air for your range vent, bathroom fan and dryer. Check with your local code to see if make up air is needed for those items.
Are these unit above vented to the outdoors?

New York State code for ventilation requirements for finished basements is a window opening equal to 4% of the floor area, or a mechanical ventilation system capable of providing a 0.35 air exchange per hour. I'm not sure if our town has a tougher requirement or not. Waiting for a call from the building inspector.
The range fan, and bath fans are all vented to the outside, and one of the fans in the upstairs bath is a fan that also brings fresh air into the house (requirement because of the energy star construction) The dryer I'm not sure of. I know it has the typical vent that sometimes has lint in it. That goes to the outside. I don't think there is another vent.
Also, the partitioned wall will be about 3-3 1/2 feet from the furnace and water heater. Is this enough room?
