You mean to tell me there is no concensus on what is typically put down first on a roof--ice and water sheild then the metal drip or metal drip edge first, then:confused::confused: ice and water barrier

Sometimes things get missed...lol. And I think our roofing guys must be on vacation.

Everything normally overlaps as it goes down, I'd do drip edge, then membrane, then shingles. Though it might make it harder for repairs if needed.


Ahhh here ya go from the Grace website....guess I was wrong.

The grace website is correct. The ice and water shield is meant to protect the wood so it goes on the sheathing, and should overlap onto the front of the fascia. Flashing goes on top. You'll find some people who will put it on top of the flashing, however. In retrospect, they aren't following the mfg. instructions.

one of the roofing contractors i previously worked for would want us to dry in the roof with ice and water shield and install eave drip and then come back and put ice and water shield over the eave drip
