I'm not sure what the proper terminology is, but I have a gas furnace and gas water heater both of which have an exhaust duct that goes into the base of the chimney. Where the ducts enter the chimney was never properly sealed. Some jackass basically just jammed a bunch of rock in there. The ducts are pitched properly so there's no leakage but I'm going to be selling my house soon and need to seal it. A home inspector told me to use refractory cement but I have a feeling that's not something I'll be able to pick up at Home Depot. Is there anything else I can use?
Once again, the appliances are gas and there's no fireplace in the house. I live in NY state if that matters.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
