Hello,

My father in law (out of the U.S.) bought a replacement remote for his Sears door opener. The old remote that he had is 00953752000 (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00953752000P?vName=&cName=&sName=&mv=cmp); he wasn't aware of Sears having two remotes with different case/buttons color and he simply grabbed the first one he saw on the shelf, which is 00953681000 (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00953681000P?vName=&cName=&sName=&mv=cmp). Sure enough the new remote does not work.
Does anyone happen to know what is the difference between the two remotes?

Thanks.

The difference is the frequency, the first one is designed for newer 315 Mhz with a purple smart button, the second one goes with an opener with a red smart button.

Thank you.

Do you know if we can perhaps change the frequency somehow, or does he have to replace it?

You cannot change the frequency. What he needs to do is take the model number of his opener to the Sears store and let them tell him which remote he needs. The model number is on the motor unit and starts with 139.
