Hello everyone:
I am trying to find out how to calculate a labor cost per square feet to paint a wooden fence inside and out.
The labor price is for Dallas - TX area.
If you have and idea, please let me know.
Thanks:rolleyes:

I would say at least $1.25 per square foot.

What are you using for paint and how will you be applying it?

Labor prices can vary greatly in various locales. The type of stain and how it's applied will play a part. is this a new fence? has it been stained before? what type of wooden fence is it? stockade? shadow box? something else?
Whenever contracting out any type of work it is best to get 3 or more estimates and check references before you hire.

He didn't say stain. He said paint. If it's going to be stain, I'd double my quote.

Labor rates vary TREMENDOUSLY in very small areas. Here in Shasta County I can hire a laborer for $9 to $12 per hour, depending on his experience doing what I do. If I were 200 miles away, in the Bay Area, I would have to pay the same person close to twice that to do the same job.

Why:confused:
Most fences are stained, not painted. While paint will protect longer than stain, there is more prep needed for repaint and you should use a primer on new or raw fencing. Stain requires less labor from start to finish so the labor cost should be cheaper.

I was just answering the guy's question, as asked. Actually, I wouldn't do either. I've installed a lot of fences & no one ever asked for paint or stain.
