Anybody know where I can find plans to build a hammered dulcimer (you know, the stringed instrument)? I'm looking for something new and different than the 15/14 plan described in our Do-It-Yourself Dulcimer Building Start To Finish book. Thanks.

I don't have a resource but as a suggestion try searching the forums on deja.com. I am aware of groups for guitar and violin making. There may be one for "odd ball" instruments or useful references.

Try typing in mimf which stands for The Musical Instrument Makers Forum. You register,it's free and go to the library. You must be a member to use the library.

Go to:
http://hotbot.lycos.com
and search for all words of
hammered dulcimer plans
or
hammered dulcimer construction
or whatever else you can think of.
You'll probably find some good stuff.

I think Wood Magazine had plans several years ago. Try their website www.woodmagazine.com. (http://www.woodmagazine.com.)
