I had no clue which forum to post this in.

I have an oregon scientific meter that has 4 remote sensors for temp/RH throughout my house and my crawl.

how long after moving a sensor from one place to another should the sensor take to acclimate to the new RH and give it's current reading?

no more than 20 minutes or so.

well it's a bad unit then....this morning the main unit still read 7-9 RH lower than both sensors right next to it..and those 2 sensors matched up fine.

i wonder how bad oregons warranty dept is? I guess i could just add 7 to the main unit every time i look at it lol. But why should i have to.

as soon as i find my receipt i'm gonna return it but meanwhile, what do you think about putting the outdoor sensor in the window screen area of a north facing window?I'm guessing the moisture settles overnight on it as i had a reading of 96% around 730 this morning (coincidentally the crawlspace below's reading lol) but 2 hours later was down to 75 so i guess the 'sun' warmed it up. There is minor sunlight there early in the morning but it quickly goes away and i dont mind a little overshoot in the mornings

they actually sent me out the new solar unit! It does read more accurately than the old unit but it still doesnt measure what the sensors right next to it do. But hey, gotta have some margin of error :)

took many emails to them with only one response ever then one day UPS just brought the thing to my door.

Don't be too quick to dismiss the high morning RH reading.

Since my new system was installed, I have been closely monitoring RH, both inside and outside. I find that while RH may be moderate during the day, it will (almost always) rise at or after midnight, and frequently reaches 100% by 2:00 A.M. or so (Philadelphia area) and will remain high into the waking hours.

well i got tired of the temp being 'so high' in my breezeway and it not being the true outside temp (was 5+ degrees more than my thermometer with wired sensor). heck the windows dont even close all the way (ie the temp should be the same) but when i moved the sensor from the breezeway to in the front north window screen last night, the temp went down from 50 to 46 rather quickly. So i guess the breezeway does stay warmer than the outside.
