I am in the process of refinishing my birch veneer kitchen cabinets. I have stripped and sanded down to the wood and am quite pleased with the light color. I tried using Minwax's Pickled Oak stain to get a white wash look and all I got was a slight glaze. If I used the 'white wash' stain can I expect to get the same or better results? Please advise . . . . . . .

Angie:

The pickled oak stain will give you the look you see in the picture - on oak. It won't work as well on other woods because of the grain difference.

The white wash Stain will give a look much closer to what you want. Play with it on a door or drawer front - several applications (letting each dry) may be necessary.

Don't forget to stir well, and keep stirred (at least every 10 minutes).
