Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to read my question.
I live in the SF Bay Area (East Bay). I am in the
process of installing a new lawn. However, I am unsure
of exactly which grass to use. The area where I am going
to install the sod only gets morning sun, The sun gets
blocked by the house around 12:30 -1:30pm. There are
also a few trees that at certin times of the year could
block some of the sun.
I thought I could go with dwarf fescue, or fescue.
Sure could use some advice on this issue. A Suggestion
on the sod type would be a great help also.
Thanks for your input,
Kenny

I am the Eastbay too. I have tall fescue and it does great. Similar conditions to yours. In fact, the areas that get less sun seem to do better.
Be warned, the blades are kind of sharp if you have kids. And it is very slow to fill in if you have a section die for whatever reason.
I bought it more than 10 years ago from Jackson sod farm, somewhere in the valley. They might still be in business.

thank you very much. I thought fescue was the way to go
but could not figure out whether dwarf or tall which one to go with.
Thanks again
