Mowing the yard the other day and the Troy 21" push mower started blowing smoke, lots of it. Losing power too, so it makes me think the spark plug is getting oil on it as well. Anything I can do to check it out and hopefully fix it before calling the repair shop?

Thanks!

Sounds like oil is getting into the cylinder. Could be cracked piston or broken piston ring(s).

Run a compression test on it if you can. Follow up with a "wet" compression test. That'll tell you exactly if it's the rings, valves or gaskets. Fixing will require at least a partial engine disassembly, a parts manual would help.
