Looking to replace these and they have lasted 5 years, look great and weather well....just never seen them before.

Most likely cypress chips. They last a long time and color gray for the most part. Now, they don't have the acid that pine does, but if you are looking for just pretty, they're great.

I have an area to cover about 20'x20' with a few small trees...an area that breaks up my driveway to my front yard.

Mulch just doesn't look great and was thinking about the wood chips. This is the area in question, not the best pic but the one I currently had stored.

The area from the stone on the right over to the left and up to the ivy on the top left. Can't think of much to cover it with, not going to put plants down at least not yet but just want a nice looking covering.

I'd lay down Typar and then the chips to keep the undergrowth from taking over, but allowing water to the root systems of the plants you plan on putting there.
