Is it possible to make my own tack cloth and if so, how?

SJ:

Tack cloth is nothing but cheesecloth impregnated with standard varnish, kept sealed (from air) and not allowed to dry. You can make tack cloth for years with a couple of yards of cheese cloth from a fabric shop and a pint of varnish.

Cut the cheese cloth into usable size (I usually cut it 2 feet by 2 feet - the cheese cloth I buy comes 4 feet wide). Fold into a pad, pour on 2 or 3 tablespoons of varnish, wring it out, and pop it into a clean paint can with a tight lid.

Make up a bunch at a time and never run out.
