I am fixing up our downstairs basement.
Unfortunately, there are 2 supporting pillars
in the middle of the room! I need some advice on how to finish them so that they blend with the room instead of cutting it in two. Thought about using the same laminate flooring planks - any bright ideas out there?

You seem to have the blend idea down, but what about turning them into a focal point or putting them to use. For example, wet bar in between, supports for wrap around seating, supports for entertainment center.
