I used Sadolin one coat on some exterior wood in my garden yesterday the weather looked fine and dry if a little dull, then this morning found it has rained during the night. the work is not dry, it has gone tacky and has a white bloom on the surface..will it dry eventually?, or should I remove it all and start again? I cant really afford to buy more Sadolin as it is expensive. and I dont know how to get the stuff off if I have to do that. Is there ever a good time in this British summer to do these jobs?

Welcome to the forums Joanna!

I'm not familiar with that particular coating? is it oil base? or waterborne?
What does the label say about drying time and recoating?

Rain/dew will slow down the drying time of most oil base coatings. It can alter the sheen but shouldn't be a noticable problem with stain. Waterborne stains take longer to cure and with some of them the coating can have a milky look to it until they dry.
