My house is three levels. We have a wood stove on the second level. We would like to move some of the heat to the lower level to save money on gas. When I built the house I didn't put any ducting in because we have in floor heat. I'd like to run a duct from the top level to the lower level and just put a duct fan in it. Is this effective? Does anyone have experience with this?. Should I be looking at a specific fan system? This should be a straight shot down to the lower level. Thanks!

Insurance rules are pretty strict about this and any attempt to modify your home's ventilation to move wood heat could void your house insurance.
What you would be doing by allowing heat to flow better between floors will also cause fire to spread more quickly.

The only way to do this legally would be to install a wood burning furnace that is approved to be ducted.
