This is the first time that I have to open the DE Filter. It is an American Products multiport type. The top portion of the can is held down with a band and a clamp with a spring barrel sort of attachment. I unscrewed the spring until it was not applying anymore pressure put have found that the band still does not loosen enough to be taken off ... I do not want to go too far with this since it says there are specific instructions to take off and I do not have them!

HELP?!

Sounds very similar to my Hayward and I have to take one side completely loose and remove the entire clamp to separate the halves. :coffee:

Okay, I looked up a diagram. Yours is exactly like mine only on the Hayward the clamp comes in two halves and I have two of the connectors whereas you are dealing with only one. Same thing; loosen all the way until the nut comes off and you can remove the clamp. :coffee:
