I am replacing my old thermostat, the wiring is as follows:

green wire > G terminal
blue wire > Y terminal
white wire > W terminal
red wire > R terminal

there is a jumper between the r's as well

I am replacing this with a white-rodgers 1F85-0471..which I can not contact on Saturday..thought might get some help here

should i use the same terminals on the white rodgers? the wiring diagram in the installation instructions are very vague. appreciate any help.

Yes, you can use the same wires to match on the new T-stat's letter.
