Hi,
I have been searching for the past week to find a solution to this problem without success. Based on what I have seen this is the best site around to provide DIY infomation.
First let me start by saying I am a complete dummy when it comes to these things. I have an Ademco Vista 10SE home alarm system. It is a wireless set up with 4 motion sensors and 4 window/door sensors. I forgot the 4 digit master code and the installer never gave me the installation code. He did not record the various zones for me either. I used the power down alternate press of * and # method to get into program mode and changed the installation code and master code. After that I got a fault reading at the keypad saying "fault 09 zone 09" and the system won't arm. How do I get rid of this fault warning. As far as I can tell there is no zone 9.
Thanks for any assistance provided.
Andrew

I'm guessing that you might have changed the setting for the wireless reciever in programming (check 09 is the wireless receiver on a Vista 10se).
Go to program:
[installer code] + 8 + 0
enter #22
If the keypad displays anything other than 2 or 02, then you changed the setting that tells the panel that there is a wireless receiver.
Enter *22 2
Enter *99
If that's all you changed, that should correct the problem.

I went into program mode and corrected the program changes I had obviously inadvertently made when I was trying to fix the problem originally. The check 9 is now cleared.
Any advice on setting up a 4286 VIP voice module on the Vista 10SE? Can it work without affecting my caller ID?

Thought zone 9 was smoke detector?

Nope, check 9 on a 10se is wireless receiver or hardwired zone expander.
That's why accurate model numbers are important. Honeywell/Ademco has never used a consistant interface over the years.
While the Vista panels are excellent and flexible, I prefer the Networx panels because _all_ of them use a common programming model. Even the DSC Power series panels have a consistant programming interface (and some of the worst laid out manuals in the business...).
This is all subjective on my part, of course...
