Is there any way to restore the luster to a finish dulled by alcohol (specifically 94 proof gin-don't ask). The plastic bag with leaky cap sat on the table for 45 min before I moved it and discovered the leak. It left a hand-sized area that is now quite dull, despite a treatment with Guardsman furniture polish. The table is oak with a medium brown stain and a satin finish. The good news is it's only noticeable when the light hits it. The bad news is my wife discovered my error and is quite upset. :wall: Any way to restore the finish short of refinishing the whole table top?

Before you get carried away with refinishing, I'd try buffing with Johnson's paste wax. (comes in a yellow can w/black letters)
