I've heard that, after a few years, carpet glue/adhesive starts to break down and crystallize, and that traces of asbestos *can* sometimes be found inside the glue.

So, my question is this - I have 7-year-old carpet that's being replaced next week - is it possible that a carpet that age (and that "recent," meaning, not in the 1980's) could have asbestos in the glue? Should this be something to be concerned about?

I just didn't know if this was a case of "newer carpets don't have that problem (asbestos)" or not. Thanks for your help!
