If your auto ac is blowing hot air, and it did not recharge, does that mean it's the compressor? How can you know? Also, are rebuilt compressors reliable? Any suggested online sites?

Not necessarily.....
Your compressor only ....."COMPRESSES" when it is electrically commanded to do so......
As far as not "Taking" a charge......if the system had been properly evacuated, and Vacuumed, then at least a partial charge should be sucked in....
