One of the three keypads has started to beep with no message on the screen. It will cycle through the functions but does not show any faults or system trouble. I have openrd it up and disconnected the thin plastic circuit tape which stops the beeping and upon reconnecting it works for a minute or two and then starts beeping again. The other keypads seem to work fine. Is this a repair or replace situation? Thanks

The only thing I can think of would be to disconnect the keypad from it's current location and either swap it with one of the other keypads or connect it directly at the motherboard. Either the keypad is failing, or your have a problem with the wiring between the system motherboard and the keypad.

Do you know a good source for a replacement keypad?

There's any number of vendors that sell Napco parts. Judge them by price and perceived reliability, just like any other online vendor.

By the way, this keypad model means that you probably have a Magnum Alert 2600 _system_...

I finally picked upa new keypad to install and amrunning into a problem. I have three keypads in the system and amm replacing #1. I connnected all wires and installed a jumper on position 1 as per instructions. The display is saying #1 out of system and the other pads atr giving the system trouble message. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Assuming that you verified the wiring between the keypad location and the control, did you power the system down and restart it when you were changing out the keypad?

Also, check your jumper configuration. You may have misunderstood how Napco sets their jumpers. See the chart on page 8 of the installer manual for the MA2600:

Napco Quickloader Software (http://www.basshome.com/product_15853_detailed.htm)

Wireing is correct as per color code. Jumper is correct according to the instructions that came with the keypad. I did not powerdown. I do know how to disconnect the backup pattery but do not know how to power down the panel.

To power cycle the panel, simply either unplug the battery, and then unplug the wall transformer or remove one of the wires off of terminals 1 or 2 on the system motherboard.

P.S.
I just noticed that you are now citing the RPL2000LCD keypad.
That is not one of the models cited in the MA2600 manual, so you may have a non-compatible part.

Typing error. It is the RP2000LCD. Same pad I have on the other locations. I will try the power down tonight. Thanks.

I did not power down as I was told that if the small battery on the circuit board was dead then disconnecting the battery and outside power would erase all programing and the entire system would have to be reprogramed. Is this accurate?

At risk of pointing out the obvious, replace the lithium battery first.

Look, this thing is in the neighborhood of 16-20+ years old. It's not beyond belief that even the replacement parts you can find are not good.
