I really appreciate all the information for making a hinged table. I was very limited for space in my laundry room, but I really needed a folding table. Being a frugal person, I wanted to make use of the materials I had on hand. As a result, you would never believe what I used to make a hinged table for my laundry room! Three old TV trays that I haven't used for years!
Using screws, I attached one 2X2 board to the underneath front section of the three TV trays and then I attached another 2X2 to the underneath back section of the trays. I used two hinges from a gate and screwed them onto the 2X2's. Then I attached the entire thing onto the wall with screws. For the legs I used two staircase posts! The tops of the TV trays were in pretty rough condition so I painted the tops with a color that matched my washer and dryer! The table work likes a charm and it didn't cost me a dime!
Hope someone else finds this idea just as useful as I have!

Congratulations on your ingenuity!
How will you be able to find places for three TV's in the laundry room? :D

Congratulations, Miji! Sometimes, all we need is a little push in the right direction to spark our own ingenuity. It's great that you were able to end up with exactly what you wanted and made good use of materials you had on hand! That's the REAL "do-it-yourself" philosophy!
