I have a space about 10 wide by 40 long. Its the front of an addition off the back of the house.I would like to put up a greenhouse section with curved poly carb panels held together by aluminum framing or wood if necessary.
The shape is a quarter circle with the top about 6 ft tall ,curving down to the
bottom about 9 ft forward. It would be joined to the wood plates already in place. I could buy a kit if available or part kit ,part custom.
Any links to kits or homemade rigs appreciated.. I wouldnt pay more than 1000 for a kit so homemade is more likely..

Are you thinking about doing the entire 10 X 40 area with a greenhouse like this?? That's 400 square feet. You're not going to find that much aluminum and poly carb panels for anything close to $1K.

Are there any bedroom windows along that wall? You can't enclose them inside the room. They have to have egress DIRECTLY to the outside, not into some other room.

the greenhouse space is only the front, south, about 8 ft wide by 5 ft high.Should have made that clear.
Not even head room. I was just going to put in sliding drawers that pull back
into the other part that has headroom. The rest is a storage/shop utility room.
Nothing to do with living space. A replacement for a funky looking shed that
I hate the looks of. The panels would bend to 90 over that space.
Like an arch. but not even 180, only 90. I need to see what other people have done. If I use wood I am going to have to rip thin strips of wood and
bend them to span the distance. That would be hard.
I bet someone has done some simple but good stuff worth copying.

You can look for Heavey Duty plastic, that will form to it right and be cheaper. You can make it look great with some nice wood frame with some plastic.

Mattbchillin,

I don't think that diy99999 is necessarily looking for cheap, I think he (or she) is looking more for something that is affordable that will last. Sure, heavy duty plastic is certainly cheap upfront, but you'll be replacing it every year or so. What the sun doesn't destroy, the wind will!!

diy99999,

I have a couple of thoughts about how to build a frame that you can attach the poly carb to. One would be EMT electrical conduit that you can bend to form the arc. (You'll need to buy the bender to do that, but they're only $25 to $30.) Another thought is to cut the arcs out of plywood and use one of those as the side of each "truss". Add 2X blocks as spacers between each pair of plywood arcs. That would be stronger than ripping and bending thin strips of wood to form the arcs with.

The box stores sell ribbed poly carb panels that are 2' wide and VERY sunlight resistant. They are intended to be installed flat, with the ribs running in the long direction (ala a patio cover) But what's stopping you from running the ribs horizontally so that you can bend them around your arcs?? Or just use a poly carb sheet. They are available in 4' X 4' panels, and you wouldn't have the ribs to catch rain water.

I like the conduit Idea I'll keep it in mind ..and the poly panels advertise
as bendable... maybe not the cheap ones at HD but other ones I have seen online..they list the max deflection per yard depending on how thick you buy. I want a permanent heavy duty, pro looking solution.

The only poly carb panels from HD that I've ever used are the Sun Tuff -- certainly not the cheap ones. And they stay very clear when exposed to sunlight.

I'm guessing that you are looking at a curve with about a 2' radius. Being ribbed, the Sun Tuff's won't bend that far lengthwise, but they will if you install them with the ribs running horizontal, from one "purlin" to the next. The closures for it are foam -- you can roll those things up in a ball!
