Why is the helm (steering wheel):thinker: on the starboard side of the boat on small craft?

All manufactured boats put the helm on that side, because in most places that is the side you pull up to the dock. However, lots of boat owners pull up on the other side. Its their choice. If you have a custom made boat, they will put it on whichever side you like. Happy Sailing.
